About us
About Green Coast Builders
Green Coast Builders is a California licensed roofing contractor, operating as Green Coast Building and Development, based in Lake Isabella and doing the majority of our residential work across the greater Los Angeles area and the San Gabriel Valley. Roofing is what we do - it is close to all of our work, not a division of something else.
- CA License #1052777 · licensed, bonded, insured
- Established 2019
- 5–10 years on labor and workmanship

Things you can check for yourself
Roofing is a trade with a marketing problem. Everyone says they are trustworthy, experienced, and family-owned, and none of those words can be checked. So here is the version of us that can be.
California contractor license #1052777
We hold two classifications, not one:
- C-39 — Roofing
- B — General Building
The C-39 is the roofing classification, which is what lets us self-perform roofing rather than broker it out. The B is General Building, which covers projects involving two or more unrelated trades. Plenty of roofing companies carry only the C-39. Holding both is why we can handle the work around a roof — the fascia, the framing repair, the painting — instead of leaving you to find someone else for it.
Go to cslb.ca.gov, use the Check A License tool, and enter 1052777. The Contractors State License Board will show you the license status, the classifications held, the bond, and the workers’ compensation position, along with any disclosed complaint history. That record is maintained by the state, not by us, which is exactly why it is worth looking at.
We would encourage you to run that check on every contractor bidding your job, not only on us. An unlicensed roofer in California is not a cheaper version of a licensed one - they are a different category of risk entirely, and the exposure lands on the homeowner.
Licensed, bonded, and insured
All three, and all three are verifiable through the CSLB record above. Bonding and insurance are not marketing terms; they are what stands behind the job if something goes wrong, and they are what a homeowner is actually buying when they choose a licensed contractor.
Progressive Materials Certified Licensed Applicator
We are a certified applicator for Progressive Materials silicone roof coating and restoration systems. This one matters more than it sounds:only Certified Licensed Applicators can issue Progressive Materials manufacturer warranties. A contractor who is not certified can buy and apply the material, but cannot give you the manufacturer’s warranty on the result.
It is a credential the manufacturer grants and can revoke, which makes it a real one. See roof coatings and silicone restoration for what the systems actually do.
We price match like-for-like bids
Bring us a written bid from another licensed contractor for the same scope and we will match it. The condition is the scope, not the number - "like-for-like" means the same underlayment product by name, the same flashing scope, the same deck repair allowance, and the same warranty. We will happily walk through a competitor’s bid with you line by line and show you where the differences are, whether or not you end up hiring us.
We have been doing this since 2019
Some of the roofing companies you will get bids from in Los Angeles have been in business since the 1940s. We have not. Green Coast Builders was established in 2019. We would rather say that plainly than dress it up, because you can look it up in about thirty seconds and anyone who fudges it has told you something about how they will handle the rest of the job.
What we would ask you to weigh instead is the stuff that actually determines how a roof turns out:
- Whether the bid names what is going on your roof. The actual underlayment product, not "premium underlayment." Whether every flashing is being replaced or old valley metal is being reused under new material. What the deck repair allowance is. Those three lines explain most of the difference between bids that look thousands apart.
- Whether anyone opened the roof before quoting it. On tile, that means lifting tile and looking at the underlayment. A relay quoted from the driveway is a guess.
- What the workmanship warranty covers, and who is behind it.Manufacturer warranties cover the product. Almost every roof failure we get called to is an installation failure, not a product failure.
- Whether they will tell you not to buy the bigger job.We quote repairs when a repair is the honest answer, and we say so when maintenance is not going to save a roof that is finished.
Longevity is a real signal and we are not going to pretend otherwise. It is just not the only one, and it is not the one you can check on the roof.
Family owned
Who you actually deal with
Green Coast Builders is a family-owned company. That is not a slogan about values — it is a description of who picks up the phone. There is no call centre, no rotating sales team, and nobody working a commission script.
Brandon handles the meetings, the sales, and the project management. He is the one who comes out to look at your roof, the one who writes what he found, and the one running the job once it starts. If you talk to someone about your roof and then someone else shows up to do the work, that is a different kind of company than this one.
The practical difference shows up when something goes sideways mid-job — rot under the tile nobody could see from the driveway, a flashing detail that turns out to be more involved than it looked. You are not filing a ticket. You are talking to the person who quoted it.
What we do, and what we do not
Roofing, almost entirely
Roofing is close to all of our work. On the residential side that isleak repair, reroofing and replacement, tile underlayment replacement and lift-and-relay,inspections and certifications, gutters, and maintenance, across tile, architectural shingle, low-slope, and metal - including manufactured and mobile home roofs.
On the commercial side it is flat and low-slope work, and in particularsilicone restoration systems as an alternative to a tear-off on warehouse, retail, industrial, and multifamily buildings.
General contracting, secondary
We do a limited amount of general contracting work, mainly interior and exterior painting. It is a small part of the business and we are not going to present ourselves as a general remodeler. If you need something outside our scope we would rather tell you than take the job and learn on your house.
What we do not do
- Insurance claim work. We do not file claims, negotiate with adjusters, or act as a public adjuster. We will document what we find with photographs and write up the cause plainly, and the report is yours to send wherever you want it to go - but the claim is between you and your carrier.
- Storm restoration. The door-knocking, free-inspection, "your insurance will pay for a whole new roof" model is a different business than ours.
- Fire rebuild work.
- Solar installation. We work around arrays, and we will tell you the right sequence if a roof and an array are both in your plans - underlayment first, always - but we do not install solar.
How we quote and how we warrant
The estimate is written, and it names things
Every estimate we write states the materials by product name, the flashing scope, the deck repair allowance, permit responsibility, and the warranty terms. That is not generosity - it is the only way you can compare our number to anyone else’s. Two roofing bids on the same house can differ enormously and be equally honest, because they are quoting different work. If a bid does not name the underlayment, you cannot know which one you are looking at.
Two separate warranties
- Materials: Manufacturer's warranty on shingles, including lifetime options. That comes from the manufacturer and it covers the product.
- Workmanship: 5–10 years on labor and workmanship. That comes from us and it covers the installation - which is what fails when a roof fails early.
- Coating systems: as a Progressive Materials Certified Licensed Applicator we can issue Progressive Materials manufacturer warranties on silicone restoration work directly.
Permits are our job
Reroofing is permitted work in essentially every jurisdiction we serve. We pull the permit and schedule the inspections as part of the job, and we work out the applicable code and energy requirements for your address before writing the estimate rather than discovering them at plan check.
Where we work
We are based in Lake Isabella, CA, and we are a service area business - we come to you, and we do not run a public showroom or yard. The majority of our residential work is in the greater Los Angeles area and the San Gabriel Valley; commercial work runs the 60 corridor and out toward the Inland Empire; and we continue to serve Kern County and the surrounding communities from our base.
Talk to us about your roof
Tell us what is going on and we will give you a straight answer in writing. If you already have a bid, bring it - we will walk through it with you and match it like for like.
